Running a business can be exhausting.
I’ve seen too many business owners sacrifice their health, family and limited time on the planet, to make their business successful.
So what’s the answer, when the years of graft result in owner fatigue?
I’m not going to suggest you carve out more time for leisure, which almost always gets shelved.
One thing business owners talk about a lot – but rarely do it well – is delegating more.
I find that most business owners already delegate certain activities. But there is no consistent drive to keep pushing the boundaries. It might feel really uncomfortable, but it’s vital to do.
And if you don’t have people you can trust, who are capable of removing some of the burden, then you’ve got a much bigger problem.
The other thing is around changing your purpose. Your original motivation for starting the business won’t endure forever. So find a new purpose.
I’ve seen plenty of business owners become reenergised when they get focused on a new purpose → scaling their business to an exit.
