At least once a month, this is what I think after a call with a business owner:
“I can’t see them exiting their business anytime this decade.”
Why do I think that? Because some business owners find themselves unable to take the decision to actually kick off the process and secure their future.
If the business is your baby and you’ve given it everything, there is bound to be an emotional blocker. I understand that.
But there’s also another reason at play. Some people simply need more information than others to make a good decision. And that can be a problem in business – and in life.
Jeff Bezos summed it up perfectly with his 70 percent rule…
Most decisions should be made with around 70 percent of the information you wish you had.
If you wait till you have absolute certainty it’s the right decision, you’re probably too late.
Amen.
