The point is this. If you want to drive up your valuation by a small amount, there a so many ways to do it.

But if you want to double the valuation of your business or 10X it… then you’ll eventually realise – there’s only one or two things that will really move the dial – and it’s unique to your business. The other 23 methods will only provide you with modest increases.

Choosing the wrong drivers of value is probably the biggest reason I’ve seen for capable founders failing to grow their business to a sufficient scale to exit.
